Families Connected is available to offer support and intervention on numerous fronts for couples and families in transition.  Whether it be a marital separation or divorce, with or without children, or the blending of families already formed; navigating new roles, effectively communicating and finding healthy boundaries can be daunting tasks.  Our clinicians offer expertise in assisting couples and families through this often-turbulent time.

A priority for divorcing parents is minimizing the negative impact on their children.  For many couples, this priority is what motivates them to seek support from a professional.  Transitioning from an intimate relationship to a co-parenting relationship can be a very difficult process for many divorcing parents.  We offer parents education about the impact that uncooperative, adversarial co-parenting practices have on children.  With fairness and compassion, we help parents arrive at child-centered decisions.

Questions such as How…When…and What do we tell our kids? can be difficult to find consensus around when parents themselves are still processing the separation and possibly the triggering circumstances surrounding it.  Our clinicians offer concrete guidance as well as conflict resolution to facilitate effective communication around these timely parenting decisions.

A healthy and sustainable schedule of visitation is a key ingredient for achieving the stability and predictability children need when parents separate. Our clinicians provide the necessary forum for these important considerations to be discussed effectively, resulting in a plan that reflects the best interests of the child.

For families coming together with children from previous relationships, creating a positive and supported transition for their new family is essential.  Our clinicians can assist parents in navigating the complex shifts that occur in roles and responsibilities when step parents and step siblings enter family systems.
